No. Lie.
I took her to get her first salon spa pedi a few weeks ago and after we left, I looked down at my nails then looked at her and told her, " you do it so much better...".
Oh and I have a theory about that spa pedi a few weeks ago. We got them on a Sunday then literally four days later the 75-85 degree stretch hit Chicago. I think we can all agree that the fact that she and I got those pedi's led to this beautiful weather. No need to thank us.
OK I can be honest with you, right?
I didn't take the important before picture for this post.
And I almost went back and re-created the mess that led me to this post just so I could show you my "before".
Almost.
Then I realized that it would go against the creative integrity I have goin' on here at AGFL and decided not to go back and recreate the mess.
Nah, I was just too lazy to go upstairs and dump all of it out again and start all over.
I have integrity but I also am a little lazy too....probably why I didn't hit a million page views in my first year of blogging.....and thanks to those bloggers who brag about it. You know who you are......:)
Anyhoo, Annie and I were getting ready for her 12th birthday sleepover party last week and that always includes going to Dollar Tree.
You don't go there before parties???
Well let me tell you what you are missin'....
.....paper plates, table covers, napkins, plastic utensils, candy, treat bags, thank you cards, treats for the treat bags, Advil for the parents......
We also were doing a spa themed party this year too.....I love having girls!!! .....so we got some essentials. Nail polishes in different fun colors, nail polish remover, lotions, scrubs and some plastic bins so that they could do a spa pedicure. Did I mention how much I love having girls???
So after the party, I had these cute colorful bins laying around and had no idea what to do with them.
Why is that? Whenever you need storage bins or baskets you can't find any to save your life but when you have no use for them you can't pay your family to find a home for them.
Since I took no before pictures, this is turning out to be a pretty boring post for you, isnt' it?
Here is what I did with them:
You have no idea how much more organized this is than the way it used to be.
It was taking up most of our master bedroom closet and seeping into our bedroom.
Of course if I had taken a before picture, you would have some idea of how much better this is for me.
I would also like to discuss something we did for Anna's party that I took from an Pinterest pin.
Anna likes to look through Pinterest with me for ideas for her parties, nail ideas (see, obsessed!!!), ideas for decor for her room etc...so one day back in January we saw this pin:
Doesn't this look really funky?
Anna was all over this so we went to the site and they said it was really simple.
First, buy these:
On Amazon.
For $24.99.I should say that $24.99 is the least expensive one they offered.
So idiot me, I ordered them.
I can probably guarantee that these are sittin' over at Michael's or Hob Lob right now for less than 15 bucks.
Please comment below or email me to tell me that isn't the case.
Anyhoo, I ordered them because I love my daughter and I knew how much she really wanted to do this. Plus I thought, if this really turned out, we could do her hair for her soccer games in her team color, we could do her friends hair, my neighbor/babysitter/extended family member is a cheerleader so she might love to do this for games etc...you get the point.
So here are the "easy" instructions:
- squirt hair with a water bottle
- take the chalk and rub it on the hair
-then curl it wet....hwahhuhh??????
And it will look like this:
Yeah.
No.
Not even close.
How did the girls hair in the picture get that glossy??
So I started on my daughter and did the curling iron but when it started smoking....well we got nervous and stopped there.
I did all the girls at the party....all eight of them.
Without the curling iron.
An hour later, they had streaks of color in their hair but it looked nothing like this:
They looked more like this:
Not like Meredith Viera dressed up as Lily Munster but with these giant streaks in their hair.
But they did seem to like it.
Unless they were just being nice....
Any hoo, now I have this 25 buck chalk sittin' around and don't you know I have been googling my little heart out looking for projects to create with it.
Happy Thursday that feels like a Friday 'cuz its 85 degrees on March 22nd in Chitown baby!!!!
