Workin’ With What Ya Got- Mirror, Mirror on the…..Table?

How are you doing today?
I’m a little blue.
My oldest left for a week in Minnesota this morning so I am going through Annie withdrawal today.
I start feeling sad about three days before, then she and I end up completely bonding in those three days more than we usually do. We have been watching movies together, going shopping alone together and just holding hands and cuddling more than usual.
She will have fun but I will still be thinking of her all the time wishing I could be by her side.
But I do have a little surprise planned for her as I usually do when she leaves for a week each summer.
I am making over a nightstand for her room that she and I picked up at a garage sale a month ago.
I am so excited about it and I am starting it today so will post about it next week!
So I was up in Michigan visiting some dear family last weekend and while there my cousin Linda gave me a couple of awesomesauce things like cool willow sticks, a closet organizer and this sweet mirror:

Isn’t it amazing?
It is a thrift store hunter’s dream come true.
These are harder and harder to come by today thanks to blogger’s showing the world how to refashion these puppies into chalkboard, menu boards, corkboards or just spray painting the frame and turning them into funky new finds.
And my first reaction was to paint the frame.
But after looking at it in my home for a couple of days, I realized that I kind of liked it just as it was.
It was in perfect condition and I liked the old world look of the finish.
So I left it sit on my dining room table for several days so I could figure out which wall I wanted it on.
Until I realized that it looked pretty cool sitting there.
On the table.
All flat like.
I found some cool candle holders, some that I painted with a mercury glass finish here.
If you are not a go to a link ind of person here is the gist:
Take some Dollar Tree cylinder vases + mirror spray paint + some water in a spray bottle
= cool mercury glass vases/candle holders.

The smaller hobnail votive holders I bought at Pottery Barn on sale for $3 each last fall.
The others I bought at a craft store for a dollar each last fall as well.
I love the mixing of different metallic looks.
Not sure if that is “in” now or not.
And truly I don’t even care.
I just love how it looks in my home.
Here you have a cool centerpiece!
It brings more light to this table and at night it is amazing!
And I didn’t spend a dime!
Thanks Linda for the cool mirror! I am so happy I get to look at it all day every day!
