A Grace Full Life: Time For Me. Time. For. Me. Hmmmmmmm. Wait, Wait. Wait! Yeah No.

Time For Me. Time. For. Me. Hmmmmmmm. Wait, Wait. Wait! Yeah No.

Time for me is rare.
But not an Oh Feel Ever So Sorry For Me rare.
Like, I get time for me three nights a week.
But my "time for me" might be different than your "time for me".

Here is what my "time for me" looks like for the most part:

- snacks.
- television/movie programming that only I like.
- a tasty beverage
- my blankie
- not wearing a bra

I am a simple girl.
Living in a material world.

Best Friday night ever

Now to be fair, there are many other "time for me" scenarios that I would love that involve leaving the house but my go to "time for me" is always the above.
Because I am at my happiest in life when my over the shoulder pebble holder isn't strapped onto my body hanging on for dear life.
Because pebbles.
Not at all boulders.

I get three nights a week of semi uninterrupted screen time for just me.
Four if soccer/ cheer practice is is session.
The hubs works late three weeknights and every Saturday.
BUT WE AREN'T TALKING ABOUT SATURDAY BECAUSE IN MY WORLD I AM IN DENIAL.

Basically I have turned lemons into lemonade over the past six years of his rigorous schedule.
And that lemonade may or may not have had vodka in it a time or two.
Or ten.
Because when the hubs is at work, the children are in bed or at practice, I get FULL CONTROL OF THE REMOTE.

I think most people, men AND women are nodding their heads in agreement right now.
FULL CONTROL OF THE REMOTE PEOPLE.
It is a glorious thing.
Flippin around all willy nilly between one channel and the next.

Parenthood?
I think I will!
Dirty Dancing?
Don't mind if I do!
Pretty in Pink???
COME TO MAMA.

Every Friday night, my husband works late.
Which sucks.
It does.
I can't go out to dinner with him.
I can't get a sitter and hang out with my homies.
Why?
Because the sitters have dates on Friday nights.
So Friday night in my world has become Parenthood Night.

Around 8 pm, I make my homemade popcorn with olive oil, garlic and oregano.
Three sprays of butter.
Aww, lets do 5.
Because we can and its PARENTHOOD NIGHT Y'ALL!

Then if my oldest doesn't have plans, which is like NEVER, I ask her to come sit with me.
"Mom, I am face timing with Catie!"
But Parenthood is on!
"I will be down in a half hour!"

This means she will not be down.
Because Parenthood.
Its all good.
BECAUSE I HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE REMOTE.

Here are some MomME time shows that you might be interested in this month on Netflix:

1- Orange is the New Black
2- Scandal
3- Pretty Little Liars
4- Sherlock
5- Breaking Bad
6- Parenthood

I don't know about you but my ME time always comes with kids coming in and out of the room.
Hardly ever do I get blocks of uninterrupted time which is fine by me because I love my kids.
The reason I say this is because if you are watching any of the previous mentioned shows, I would say your safest bet would be # 6.
And maybe # 3 .
And # 4.
Because you want to prevent a really awkward convo.
Save the rest for after 10 pm or when you are completely alone.
TRUST ME.

Here are a list of shows you might have missed but will definitely take you away:

1- Weeds
2- Call the Midwife
3- Freaks and Geeks
4- Shameless
5- Top of the Lake

Prop your feet up.
Get out the snacks.
And enjoy your you time.
Don't forget to call me.
I will bring the adult Capri Sun.

I am a member of the Netflix Stream Team. Meaning, for the next year, once a month I will be writing posts about how my family is using our Netflix. They provided me with a Roku and a voucher for my Netflix account.

  1. I love Orange is the New Black and Parenthood. Oh, and Scandal (at least the first couple of seasons). I need to start watching Breaking Bad but I am afraid I will get sucked in. I watched this season of OITNB unless than three days, but on my iPad with earbuds because of those awkward conversations you mentioned.

  2. Sorry...I'm too distracted by your fancy new blog to appreciate your Netflix content fully. LOVE the cartoon version of Kari as well! I so want to be you when I grow up.

  3. I get to use the remote so infrequently that I don't know what station anything actually is on...or even how to work it very well. Nobody has any patience and instead of teaching me the jedi ways of the dvr remote, they just whip it out of my hands. Books are safer for me, as they also slow down my snacking because I don't want to get butter/grease/chocolate/ice cream on the pages! But I still want to come to your house while you pick the shows!

  4. Orange is the new black is next on my series binge list. I've seen all of the parenthoods.. great show. I am currently catching up with Greys Anatomy. I always joke that I love it when my husband is on night shift because I get sole possession of the remote! : ) Enjoy your me time.

  7. Scandal is on Netflix? I've never seen it but admit I've been curious. Right after I finish my OITNB binge.

  8. We are in season 2 of Breaking Bad, and I'm in season 2 to OITNB. Which is why I'm not getting much blogging done lately.

    1. I need to watch Breaking Bad.
Or maybe I don't because I have trouble enough blogging without a tv series.
