I got this fella years ago at T.J. Maxx for under 10 dollars. He looks like something you would find in your granny’s attic, doesn’t he?
I like to name inanimate objects so let’s just call him Bob for the sake of the blog post, shall we?
Bob’s had a rough go of it in our home though.
First, Bob got knocked down to the floor by our yellow lab Riley and lost part of his paw.
Not Riley’s, Bob’s.
We found the rest of said paw in Riley’s mouth.
Bob has this missing paw look going but I think he works it, don’t you?
A few years later, our then toddler Ellie knocked over Bob and split his head right down the middle.
So Bob spent a week in the hospital basement getting stitches a good gluing.
Even still, Bob is my all-time favorite spring/Easter decoration in our home.
Yeah, nothing like hers but I am lucky to even have a decor shelf.
Before I saw the post about her “shelf”, I put all my decor I wasn’t using in two places:
1– the bins where I took decor from (Christmas, Easter, Halloween….etc)
2– the Goodwill drop off bin
You don’t have a Goodwill drop off bin??
Mine is an old laundry basket that I dump things in as I clean/organize/purge the house. The one above is kind of overflowing because I haven’t made a “deposit” in over two months.
Oh and SAVE THE RECEIPT THEY GIVE YOU! I saved mine for all the donations we gave this year and we got credited almost 500 bucks on our tax return. It is worth all the extra effort, trust me.
Then I realized that if I can’t see it, it may as well not exist. Plus, I was giving away choice stuff to Goodwill that I could have held on to for something down the road.
But this shelf thing is a great idea and can help you when you want to “stage” your home whether it be to sell it or just to give yourself a lift and change things up now and then.

So let’s end this post and begin the weekend with a great recipe, sound good?
I actually got the idea from the cookbook 5 Dollar Meals that I got at the library but with most recipes I get from cookbooks, I doctored it up a bit so here is my take on it:
Beef And Broccoli
1 package of steak ( I used strip steak but any inexpensive steak will do)
1 package frozen broccoli
2 tsp. vegetable oil
2 tsp. soy sauce
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tsp. garlic powder
Salt and pepper to your taste
Brown rice or noodles (depending on what you want to serve it on)
Take the steak and cut it up into strips making sure you cut out the fat. Place in a bowl and top with the juice of one orange, oil, the soy sauce, garlic powder and salt/pepper. Combine this in the bowl and let marinate on the counter or in the fridge for 10-15 minutes while you prep your rice/noodles. Once you have marinated the meat, spray a wok pan/deep fry pan with cooking spray. Add the marinated meat and start to stir-fry until cooked through then add the frozen broccoli to the pan until tender. Serve over the rice/noodles.
I made this on Wednesday night and it was so good we were actually eating the leftover steak out of the pan.
