Christmas,  Family

Favorite Things- Matt

I have to give my brother props. Last year I gave him a hard time about getting his post to me late. I mean like three weeks late late. So this year, he got it to me next day. Gotta love the power of sisterly persuasion.

Favorite Christmas song……..

Silent Night (either version — English or German)

Favorite things to do at Christmas……

Decorate the house, host a Christmas party, go to Wild Lights @ Columbus Zoo, drive-thru Alum Creek Fantasy of Lights (like Cuneo’s display)

Favorite Christmas cookies……

Grandma’s cut-out cookies with William’s frosting. This recipe is our Grandma Ella’s recipe and her brother’s icing recipe together. These are the best cut out cookies you will ever make. Ever.

Ella and William’s Cookies

3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. margarine, softened

Mix margarine and sugar then add egg and vanilla. Add flour, salt and baking powder. Mix with a beater then mix well with your hands. Roll and cut out with cookie cutters. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

1/2 c. margarine
1/3 c. karo syrup
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1-2 tbsp. milk
3 1/2 c. powdered sugar

Put all ingredients in a small bowl and beat with mixer until smooth. Use food coloring to add color. Frost cookies immediately.
Thanks, Bubby!!

I love to write about my family, John Hughes, tacos and Bruce Hornsby. Not necessarily in that order.
