DietBet With Friends. Why I Don’t Belong in Vegas. Or at The Grand Victoria.

I don’t know how to gamble.
Some would view this as a positive thing.I have only been in a casino once in my life.
1996 at the Grand Victoria in Elgin, Illinois.
I don’t know how it works in other states, but here in Illinois, it used to be that if you wanted to gamble?
It had to be on a boat.
On water.
But it didn’t have to sail the seven seas.It just needed to gently glide up and down the river.
Over a half mile stretch.
Over the entirety of the gambling session.
Session? Sin Wagon? Illicit money boat on the Swanneeeee Riverr??
To each their own.

I got sea sick.
On the Fox River.
In land locked Elgin.

Maybe it was the heavy smoke.
Maybe it was the booze.
Maybe it was the Sin Wagon.

So I never went back.

So when my friend Julie over at Pocketful of Joules invited me and some other friends to join her in doing something called DietBet, I was a little apprehensive.

Here is the gist:

You go to the DietBet site and sign up.
You pay a certain amount, we agreed upon 20 dollars each.
We weigh in and take a picture of the number on the scale as well as a before picture of our bodies.
But they do need it to make sure “you” are indeed “you” and that “you” aren’t a liar.
We are on this gambling junket for a month.
You need to lose 4% of your body weight in that month.
At the end of the month, the money is split between the winners.
If we all win, we get our money back!

This is the fun part: YOU can join us!!!
Go to the site here to register!!

I have been on Weight Watchers since January and love it but this is the thing: I need to be constantly motivated.
Listen to Your Mother is my huge motivation now.
But that ends May 4th.
This starts May 6th.
So I needed to do this.
I might even do this ALL YEAR LONG.

OMG I am becoming a gambler.
Do you hear Kenny Rogers singing softly in the background???

Go Kari! I'm cheering for you but I am worried about how this is going to affect my pie.

Ha! The boats don't move anymore…but I don't recommend visiting them anyways.

That being said, we're going to own this!

(Also if I commented twice, just delete one)

I was telling my husband today that I should consider Weight Watchers or something. I am having a devil of a time staying motivated. I want to lose weight for BlogHer. That gives me roughly three months. But I know I'm gonna cheat.
And did I say devil? See? That just reminds me of devils food cake.
